Simple Dressed Oysters

When eating a raw Oyster's you want to be able to enjoy the flavour. However, adding some accompaniments and dressing the oyster can help to make that flavour sing. Here are a few suggestions for dressing your Oysters.

  • A Classic Mignonette
  • Tabasco
  • Lemon 
  • Other Mignonette Variations

 

Classic Mignonette

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp shallot minced
  • ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • pinch of salt

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, then whisk to combine.
  2. Set aside at room temperature for 2 hours.

If you want to be a bit less traditional here are a few ways you can change up the mignonette:

  • Mince a jalapeño or other chili to make it spicy
  • Cube or dice sweet apple to make it sweet
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger with a sprinkle of fresh herbs (coriander or chives) for an Asian twist
  • Try adding minced cucumber (peel it first) for a fresh and light dressing.
