Simple Dressed Oysters
When eating a raw Oyster's you want to be able to enjoy the flavour. However, adding some accompaniments and dressing the oyster can help to make that flavour sing. Here are a few suggestions for dressing your Oysters.
- A Classic Mignonette
- Tabasco
- Lemon
- Other Mignonette Variations
Classic Mignonette
Ingredients:
- ½ cup red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp shallot minced
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- pinch of salt
Method:
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, then whisk to combine.
- Set aside at room temperature for 2 hours.
If you want to be a bit less traditional here are a few ways you can change up the mignonette:
- Mince a jalapeño or other chili to make it spicy
- Cube or dice sweet apple to make it sweet
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger with a sprinkle of fresh herbs (coriander or chives) for an Asian twist
- Try adding minced cucumber (peel it first) for a fresh and light dressing.
